Following the Movement of Funds

Professional blockchain investigations focus on understanding how cryptocurrency has moved throughout the blockchain ecosystem rather than examining individual transactions in isolation.

Depending on the circumstances, investigators reconstruct the movement of cryptocurrency by following the path funds have taken across the blockchain. This process involves examining how transactions connect with one another, identifying behavioural patterns over time, and placing blockchain activity into its wider financial context.

By examining how these transactions relate to one another, investigators can develop a broader understanding of the movement of digital assets and identify patterns that may not be apparent when individual transactions are viewed in isolation.
